Children at Montessori for Toddlers learn a variety of skills, including:
• Daily life: How to get dressed, put on shoes and slippers, prepare snacks, set the table, and care for plants.
• Social interactions: How to be kind and helpful, say please and thank you, listen without interrupting, and resolve conflicts peacefully.
• Language: Vocabulary, listening skills, and the ability to differentiate between objects and pictures. Children at MFT also learn beginning sign language through songs and poems.
• Mathematics: Learning basic math concepts, numeration, fractions, addition, subtraction through math manipulatives, sand-paper numbers, counting songs and poems.
• Emotional skills: How to identify their emotions, and how to develop emotional intelligence. Young children begin to recognize the emotions of others and the seeds of empathy are planted.
• Cognitive skills: How to better understand and remember what they are learning.
• Creativity and imagination: How to think outside the box and foster a love for learning and exploration.
• Physical development: Fine and gross motor skills, balance, coordination, and how their bodies move.
